Reduction in accidents and associated costs achieved via Safe & Smart® Training

Fatality Accidents

  • Each fatality counts as a separate accident for accuracy.
  • All fatality crashes are considered an exposure risk, regardless of liability.

Injury Accidents

  • Assume one serious injury per crash; enter multiple crashes for multiple injuries.
  • Use the accident register as a starting point but consider unreported injuries.
  • All injury crashes are an exposure risk, even if not initially recorded.

Property-Damage Only (PDO) Accidents

  • Include accidents where a vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
  • Many PDO accidents go unrecorded—actual numbers may be higher than reported.
